Syracuse University replacing Carrier Dome's inflatable roof (Yahoo Sports)
Syracuse University will replace the Carrier Dome's inflatable roof with a permanent structure as part of a plan to renovate the 36-year-old stadium and another campus athletic facility. University officials announced Monday that it will cost an estimated $105 million to replace the dome's iconic ''white pillows'' with a roof built constructed with ETFE, a space-age transparent plastic that lets in light. The stadium, opened in 1980, is home to Syracuse's basketball, football and lacrosse programs.
